Wisconsin State Teaching License, Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee, 2003

Background

I was born and raised in Neenah, Wisconsin. I attended Trinity Lutheran School in Neenah for my elementary education and attended Fox Valley Lutheran High School. After graduating from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1987, I spent a year in California as a dorm supervisor for California Lutheran High School and preschool teacher at Cinnamon Tree Children’s Center. I received a call from Bethany Lutheran School in Kenosha and enjoyed teaching there from 1988 until 2021, when I received the call to serve at Kenosha Lutheran Academy. I have taught third and fourth grades for the majority of that time. Over the years, I have also served as Athletic Director, volleyball coach, and library coordinator. In addition to my teaching duties, I enjoy coaching the Battle of the Books team and organizing the school spelling bee and art show.

Why did I become a teacher?

I remember deciding to be a teacher when I was in fifth grade. My elementary teachers were my role models and inspired me to become a teacher. I love working with children, helping them do their best and reach their potential. Every day brings fun, as well as learning. It is such a joy to hear and see the students sharing their faith in Jesus. Life with third graders is always interesting and enjoyable.

My Favorite Bible Passage

“Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine like the dawn.”

-- Psalm 37:5-6

This Bible passage is my Confirmation passage and has become a guide for my life. Every day, by sharing God’s Word and by example, I lead the children to commit their ways to the Lord - in all they do and all they say.
